How to find the correct German articles


der die das

In German we have three articles: der die das.


der (masculine)

die (feminine)

das (neutral)







Tip: Grammatical gender does not usually follow any logical rule. So always learn the nouns with the articles together.


However, there are some suffixes that can be used to determine the article. I'll explain exactly what they are on this page.


How to find the right German articles

The best way to become familiar with articles (der die das) is to listen to and read a lot of German. Gradually you will develop a natural feeling for the correct article.


Grammatical gender does not usually follow any logical rule, but there are some noun endings that give us a clue.
